In this guide we will walk you through mounting an install ISO and booting into it from the live console, no physical access required.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\">This article is only applicable to those who have an account with <strong>Packetra <\/strong>and it assumes that you are already logged into the portal. Before you begin, please read our guide on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/packetra.com\/knowledgebase\/kb\/how-to-manage-your-switzerland-dedicated-server-ipmikvm\/\">accessing and managing your KVM<\/a><\/strong>, as this article builds on it and assumes you already know how to reach the live console.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\">Installing a new operating system <strong>erases everything on the server<\/strong>. Make sure you have backups of any data you want to keep before you begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading step-heading\">Open the Live Console<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In your client area, open your Dedicated Server service, click the <strong>Console<\/strong> button and then <strong>Web Console<\/strong>. Confirm the image is attached by checking that <strong>Device 1<\/strong> reads <strong>&#8220;There is an iso file mounted.&#8221;<\/strong> You can press <strong>Refresh Status<\/strong> to update the display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading step-heading\">Reboot Into the Boot Menu<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Go to <strong>Remote Control &gt; iKVM\/HTML5<\/strong> and click the <strong>iKVM\/HTML5<\/strong> button to open the live screen. This is the ISO you mounted in the previous step. Everything you need is on your server&#8217;s product page in the client area, under <strong>Server details<\/strong>. There you will find your <strong>Primary IP<\/strong> and any <strong>Additional IPs<\/strong>, along with the <strong>Netmask<\/strong> and <strong>Gateway<\/strong> for your server. Always confirm Device 1 reads &#8220;There is an iso file mounted&#8221; before rebooting.<br><br><strong>I pressed F11 but the boot menu did not appear.<\/strong> <br>The timing window is short. Reboot again and press F11 repeatedly as soon as the Supermicro screen appears.
